Selling on credit, and cash in the box
Two features for money that doesn’t arrive at the moment of the sale: credit, for customers who pay later, and Cash in the box, for knowing what should be in your drawer at any time.
Sell on credit
- Ring up the sale as usual and tap Charge.
- Switch on Credit (pay later).
- Under Charge to, tap Select a customer and choose who is buying. Someone new? Tap New customer and add them.
- If they are paying part of it now, enter that in Down payment. The rest shows as On credit.
- Tap Complete sale.
Home shows how much you sold on credit today, under On credit.
See who owes you
- On Home, tap Ledger.
- Owed to you is the total across all your customers, with each person and what they owe listed below it.
- Tap a customer to see their Balance, and every sale and payment under Activity.
Record a payment
- In Ledger, tap Record payment. You can also open the customer and tap Record payment there.
- Choose a customer and type the Amount they paid.
- Tap Record payment.
A payment settles that customer’s oldest unpaid sale first, then the next oldest. Paying part is fine; the rest stays on their balance.
Numa won’t record more than someone owes. If you enter too much, it applies only the balance and tells you how much it took.
Once a customer has paid everything, their balance shows Settled.
Money counts on the day it is paid, not the day of the sale, so Home shows the cash you actually received today.
Cash in the box
Cash in the box keeps a running count of the cash that should be in your drawer. It is off until you switch it on.
- On Home, tap Cash.
- Switch on Cash in the box.
- Each morning, Numa asks How much is in the box now? Count your drawer, type the amount, and tap Save and start selling.
- From then on, Home shows what should be In the box, updated as you sell.
You can’t sell until the morning question is answered, because that is what keeps the count accurate. If the drawer is empty, or you’d rather not count today, enter 0.
The morning amount starts filled in with what the day before should have ended at, so on most days you only check it and save.
Counted something different? Tap the In the box card on Home, or Edit on the Cash screen, and correct it.
Past days on the Cash screen lists how each day started and ended.
