Backups, and moving to a new phone
Your books live on your phone. Numa has no account and keeps no copy of your sales, so if the phone is lost or reset, a backup is the only way back. Set one up once and it keeps itself up to date.
Turn on automatic backup
- On Home, tap the gear icon at the top right to open Settings, then tap Data & backup.
- Under Automatic, switch on Back up to a folder.
- Tap Folder, then Choose a folder, and pick where the copies should go.
- Numa now saves a copy there by itself. The line underneath shows when it last did.
A folder on the phone won’t help if the phone itself is lost. Pair it with the phone’s own backup below, or copy the file somewhere else now and then.
Also in your phone’s backup: if your phone’s Google backup is on, Numa’s data comes back by itself when you set up a new phone from that backup. Tap Open backup settings to check that it’s on.
Make a backup by hand
Keep the backup file private. It includes your customer names and phone numbers.
- In Data & backup, under Manual, tap Back up now.
- Save the file, or send it somewhere off the phone, such as your email or a cloud drive.
Restore on a new phone
Restoring replaces everything on the phone you restore to (sales, products, customers and credit) and can’t be undone. Do it on a new phone, or one with nothing on it you need to keep.
- Install Numa POS from Google Play and open it.
- On Set up your store, tap Already using Numa? Restore a backup.
- Pick your backup file.
- Numa asks Restore this backup? Tap Restore. The app restarts with your books in place.
Already set up on this phone? Go to Data & backup and tap Restore from backup instead.
If Numa says This isn't a Numa backup file., you picked a different file. Look for the one Numa saved.
If it says This backup is from a newer version of Numa — update the app first., update Numa POS on Google Play and try again.
If a restore goes wrong, Numa shows Restore failed and leaves your data as it was.
